The day of a spinner ( Dzień świra ) is a Polish comedy film directed by Marek Koterski.

Content

The film shows a day in the life of 49 -year-old Polish teacher and obsessional neurotic Adaś Miauczyński ( Marek Kondrat ). A recurring theme is a poem that he wants to write, but is distracted again and again by other people.

The film begins in the morning while Adaś is still in bed. A narrator explains his thoughts; he fears every day before getting up, because he does not know what to do with the day. He lives in a block and after getting up, he noticed different noise he tries to eliminate. So three men working with a jackhammer, the stop work completely, as if he requests it. Something that is not quite it. A shower Neighbour listening to loud Chopin, a neighbor performs martial arts exercises and a third party mows lawn with a motor scythe.

Almost everything Adaś does adheres to compulsiveness. He always counts how often or long as he does something, preferably up to seven. He stirred his coffee seven times, seven drinking sips of water, washes his face seven times, etc. He also checked several times if he has completed his apartment properly and all gas and water taps are closed properly.

Prior to his class he recites Stepy Akermańskie of Adam Mickiewicz and it goes completely. Disruption in the class to get him to leave the classroom. He goes to his mother to tell her about his problems. This but can not understand and answered his questions and statements with general propositions and of invitations he may eat his soup. Finally, he sits at a psychoanalyst who just can not help.

When you visit his son he meets his ex- wife, with whom he disputes immediately. His son seems to be intimidated and equipped with low intelligence. Finally, he flees to the Baltic Sea. In the car ride there, he changes several times the compartment, since it annoy the other passengers in different ways. Even at the seemingly empty Baltic Sea beach but he can find no peace.

He always dreams of his first love again. When this finally be the perfect ( dream ) woman, just as he sees fit, appears, he rejects it because it would not fit into his life.

The film ends with fantasy images Adaś 's masturbating.

Reviews

Filmweb.pl writes that Adaś is not a madman, but a very sensitive man. So a madman each of us. Marek Kondrat plays excellently a suicidal loser who is annoyed by life. Kondrat it also creates lengthy scenes and the inevitable repetition of certain patterns appealing and entertaining to do for the audience.

Awards

The film was awarded in 2003 with the Polish Film Award for Best Screenplay ( Marek Koterski ) and the best male lead ( Marek Kondrat ). Nominated the 2003 film cut was still in the categories of best film, best director ( Marek Koterski ), Best Costumes ( Ewa Krauze ), best music ( Jerzy Satanowski ), best ( Ewa Smal ) and Best Supporting Actress ( Janina Traczykówna ).

With the price Złotą Kaczka ( Golden Duck ), the film was awarded twice. 2003 got him Marek Kondrat for his role as Adaś. For the best skit, as Adaś his son tries to teach English, in 2007.

When Polish Film Festival Gdynia ( Festiwal Polskich Filmów Fabularnych ) in 2002, the film with the Special Jury Prize, Marek Kondrat was awarded for the best male lead and Maria Chilarecka for the best sound.
