Daytime Emmy Award
The Daytime Emmy Award is a television award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in New York City and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in Los Angeles. Like its equivalent for prime time he draws from television broadcasts of the U.S. TV program. The ceremony usually takes place in May or June.
The Emmys are considered television awards, the equivalent of an Oscar ( for movies ) to the Grammy Awards (for music ) and Tony Awards are ( for the theater ).
History
The first Emmy Awards Television Award for broadcasts during the day was in 1972 awarded under the Primetime Awards, as The Doctors and General Hospital for an Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in a Daytime Drama were nominated. The Doctors won the first Best Show Daytime Emmy. Also, the price for Outstanding Achievement by a Daytime Drama at individual in Mary Fickett from All My Children has been awarded. In 1968, once the category Outstanding Achievement in Daytime Programming has been added. However, the jury decided against awarding the prize. This led to a complaint from Another World writer Agnes Nixon, who made known their displeasure in the New York Times.
The actor John Beradino of General Hospital was finally one of the biggest proponents, should be that the work of men who worked at daytime series, recognized and provided with its own price. The first own ceremony took place in 1974 in the Channel Gardens at Rockefeller Center in New York. Moderators were Barbara Walters and Peter Marshall. Today, the ceremony usually takes place at the Radio City Music Hall, which is sometimes resorted to the Madison Square Garden. 2006 Emmy Awards was first held outside of New York, at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. The Kodak Theatre so hosted the 2007 and 2008 ceremonies.
Since only a few players are invonlviert in the daily program, it is usually so that often the same people have been nominated several times. The best known is All My Children actress Susan Lucci was nominated a total of 18 times before it made in 1999 received a Daytime Emmy for Best Actress in 1999.
2003, in response to criticism of the Nomininierungssystem, the disadvantaged series with a large cast, another round of voting was introduced. Thus today " Vornominierungen " held, in which one or two actors each show will be pre-nominated to be finally finally nominated in a second round.
Broadcast
The ceremony was originally aired at lunchtime. Since 1991, the ceremony was moved to the evening hours. Many ideas were aired before the live transmission in order to make the viewers attention to the ceremony. ABC / Disney cable channel SoapNet already send a month before a special addition to the reception on the red carpet and the after- show party will be broadcast there. When NBC broadcast the ceremonies, special episodes of their series, such as Another World were: Summer Desire shown. When the transmission place was then awarded to CBS, the first hour with The Price Is Right specials, including a United States Navy Special and 2007 was filled with a repetition of a sequence with original presenter Bob Barker.
For many years, the show was produced by Dick Clark, himself an often Dear Moderator, who had also received an Emmy Award for his life's work. From 2004 to 2008 White Cherry Entertainment produced the show.
In August 2009, the show was first broadcast of The CW. The broadcast had very weak ratings, but was nevertheless for the station a success. The 37th and 38th edition of the Annual Daytime Emmy Awards was broadcast in June 2010 and 2011 on CBS.
