Dayton Dutch Lions

The Dayton Dutch Lions FC is an American soccer team from Dayton, Ohio. The club, founded in 2009 plays since 2011 in the National Division of the USL Professional Division, the third division football league system of the United States. By 2010, the team played in the USL Premier Development League.

The home games are at Miami Valley South Stadium, which discharged on the grounds of Bellbrook High School in Bellbrook, Ohio.

History

Foundation

In October 2009, the Dutch Lions Capital Group BV founded, a Dutch joint venture of the companies Tammer Sports Management BV, Business and Sports Performance and FinFac Beheer BV founded the Dayton Dutch Lions FC LLC. This little later acquired the rights of a professional football team in the leagues of the United Soccer Leagues in Dayton, Ohio to operate.

Owners are the Dutch Erik Tammer and Mike Mossel. Erik Tammer, owner of Tammer Sport Management, is a former football player, among other things, He was active for SC Heerenveen and Sparta Rotterdam. Mossel played for RBC Roosendaal and KV Turnhout, later moving to the United States where he studied at Xavier University of Cincinnati and then played for the Cincinnati Riverhawks.

First season

The first official match was played on May 8, 2010. Against the Cincinnati Kings was reached 3-3. First goal scorer of the club was Eddie Hertsenberg. In the first season the team played in the Great Lakes Division of the USL PDL Central Conference. At the end of the season could reach only the third place and thus failed to qualify for the play- offs. The appearance in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup ended in the first round against the Rochester Rhinos.

Change in the USL Pro

On 8 July 2010, the Lions announced that they want to play from next season in the USL Second Division. At the same time it was announced that from the 2011 season, a women's football team in the W-League is established. After the USL First Division and USL -2 were combined into the USL Pro, Dayton is one of the founding members of the League. Since January 2011 there has been cooperation with the Dutch club FC Twente Enschede.

In the first game of the 2011 season the team was defeated Charleston Battery 2-1. The first goal in the USL Pro scored Kolby LaCrone.

On February 2, 2010 Erik Tammer and Mike Mossel signed a contract with the Bellbrook High School to use the Miami Valley South Stadium. In addition, arrangements have been made with the football team in high school to cooperate. The stadium can accommodate 4,000 spectators.

On 17 January 2011, a five -year contract was signed with the Dutch first division side FC Twente Enschede. Twente will now be able to drive the development of our own youth players ahead and to secure talent in the United States. Premier Youth Academy

Under the name of Premier Youth Academy youth teams of all franchises are summarized. The game mode for all teams started 2011, although there are preliminary only one team per age group.

DDL Women

The women's soccer team Dayton Dutch Lions FC Women played since the 2011 season in the USL W-League. There, the team plays in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.
