De Koog

De polder is a district of the municipality of Texel on the eponymous island of Texel in the Netherlands. The place is 17 km north of Den Helder.

The old village is only separated by two chains of dunes of the North Sea coast. Here is the center of tourism on the island. Around the village there are numerous hotels and campsites.

Population Development

In 2001, De polder had 775 inhabitants. The built-up area measured 0.36 km ², and contained 429 residences. The slightly larger statistical district De polder 2004 had a population of around 1000th

Culture and sights

South of the village there is a wooded area. Here is the information center and Ecomare seal. Other attractions in the community, a church is from 1415.

Economy and infrastructure

Among the major sectors of the economy is one of tourism. With approximately 20,000 beds in hotels and other hostels is De polder about half of the total capacity of the island of Texel.
