Debora Serracchiani

Debora Serracchiani ( born November 10, 1970 in Rome) is an Italian lawyer, politician of the Partito Democratico and Member of the European Parliament. She is a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism and a member of the Delegation to the Joint Parliamentary Committee EU-Mexico and the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly. She is a member of the Group of S & D.

Serrachini won on 22 April, the regional elections in Friuli- Venezia Giulia as a candidate of the center-left alliance.

Life

Serracchiani acquired in 1989 the Diploma of Commercial Management School and 1994 the university law degree. She lives in Udine and practiced as a lawyer with a focus on employment law.

Serracchiani is married.

Political career

From 2006 to 2009 was Serracchiani Member of the Provincial Council of the Province of Udine, where from 2008 Deputy Group Chairman of PD. On March 21, 2009, she was elected to the European Parliament. In the same year, she was chairman of the PD in the Friuli- Venezia Giulia.

In regional elections in their home region Friuli- Venezia Giulia on 21 and April 22, 2013 Serracchiani surprisingly won by a margin of only about 2000 votes against the incumbent Renzo Tondo ( PdL ) the election of the Region President. It was supported by a center-left coalition of PD, SEL, IDV, the list Cittadini by Debora Serracchiani presidente and the Slovenian regional party Slovenska Skupnost.
