Deborah Colker

Deborah Colker ( born 1961 (?) In Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian dancer and choreographer.

Life

Deborah Colker, the daughter of a conductor, studied psychology and was a professional player for a short time in volleyball. It is also an excellent concert pianist; she had twelve years piano lessons and originally wanted to become a pianist.

At 17, she began her professional dance training: classical, jazz, and Step. From 1980 to danced, choreographed and taught it for eight years at " Grupo Coringa ". In 1984, she was ballet mistress and worked for ten years with the most important directors and actors of Brazil together in about 30 pieces. For Werner Herzog's " Midsummer Night's Dream ", she developed the movement director, began her career in 1984 as a " Movement Director". In addition, Colker worked the choreography to music shows and video clips from 1995 to 1997 for the front Commission of Mangueira School of Samba. In 1994, she founded the Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker.

Since 2001, she performs regularly in Germany. Known pieces were Rota, Knots, 4 por 4 and 2002/2003 and Casa Ela for the Berlin Ballet at the Komische Oper Berlin. For the Carnival parade of the year 2004, the "Front Commission of Viradouro School of Samba" she was the choreographer responsible.

On the occasion of the Football World Cup in 2006 they created the football choreography Maracanã, which includes typical scenes such as foul and bicycle kicks.

Colker has received numerous international awards, including the London awarded significant Laurence Olivier Award, honored. Munich newspaper awarded her the Star of the Week for the best performance in the German language for the " Summer of Dance " performance in Graz, Innsbruck and Speyer.
