Decanal is an aldehyde with the half structural formula CH3 (CH2 ) 8CHO. Decanal is a natural constituent of the essential oils of different citrus fruits, such as orange peel oil. It is a sweet, flowery smell, reminiscent of orange peel. Decanal is used, inter alia, as a flavoring in the food industry and as a perfume in the perfume industry.
