  • 63 BC: Cicero holds the last of his speeches against Catiline. Cato's expression subsequently causes the imposition of the death penalty for the conspirators of the attempted coup in the Roman Empire.
  • 1082: Ramon Berenguer II, one of two counts of Barcelona, is killed during a hunt. Popular opinion holds his twin brother Berengar Raymond II for the instigators, because he aspires to power in Catalonia.
