Decoration for Services to the Liberation of Austria
The Decoration of Honour for Services to the liberation of Austria is a state award of the Republic of Austria. It was donated by Federal Law No. 79/1976 of 27 January 1976 and is to honor persons who have provided that have rendered outstanding by the Nazi tyranny for the liberation of the country. A posthumous award is permitted.
Appearance
The award is a round, made of bronze plated medal and three-line inscription shows AUSTRIA FOR EXEMPTION. On the back of the coat of arms can be seen. The harness ring also an upwardly open laurel wreath is attached, which rests on the tape.
Carrying method
It is supported medal on a red ribbon with a wide white center stripe on the left chest.
Bearers
Prominent carriers are Manfred Ackermann, Anton Benya, Anton Brunner, Louis Haefliger, Hubert Mayr, Lucian O. Meysels, Fritz Muliar, George Schelling, Ludwig Steiner and Ernst Florian Winter. Until 2004 the award was given to about 4,500 people.
