Decree on Land

The Decree on land or decree on the ground (in Russian Декрет о земле (Decree o semlje ) ) was the second decree of the self-proclaimed new workers 'and peasants' government. By the October Revolution of 24-25 October was created. This decree matters in addition to the Decree on Peace and Decree on the Rights of the Peoples of Russia, the three so-called coup decrees, by which the new Bolshevik Russian leadership wanted as quickly as possible to win broad support in the population.

The Decree on land founded on the demands of the peasants, who had teamed up in August to Soviets and land committees. The land was " the common property of all the work on it ," declared. It was the legal basis for the confiscation without compensation of the lands of the landlords, churches and public domains, including living and material inventory is - de facto nationalization of the land (150 million hectares).
