The ancient Dadan (also Dedan, early Arab and North altsüdarabisch ddn ) was located in today's oasis of Al-' Ula, about 150 km south-west of Tayma in northwestern Saudi Arabia in the province and Medina lay on the Incense Route. Dadan is also mentioned in the Old Testament.

Dadan was the capital of the ancient kingdom Lihyan. Due to its importance for the frankincense trade, it was at least since the 2nd century BC to the early 1st century BC under the reign of the South Arabian kingdom of Ma'in.
