Dee Dee Sharp

Dee Dee Sharp ( born September 9, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; actually: Dione LaRue ) is an American R & B singer.

Career

She started her career in 1961 as a background singer. So she has been heard on recordings by Bobby Rydell and Chubby Checker ( Slow Twistin ' ).

But a year later she was quite successful as a soloist. With Mashed Potato Time ( 2nd place), Gravy ( For My Mashed Potatos ) ( 9th place) and Ride! ( 5th place) she could celebrate in 1962 three hits. 1963 was then followed by Do The Bird ( # 10 ).

Your biggest hit but she missed. Originally namely provided that they sing the title Loco-Motion, Little Eva but was obviously more successful in the samples.

In 1967 she married the famous producers and songwriters Kenny Gamble and took on plates in the Philly soul and disco style. The marriage ended in divorce in 1980.

Sharp took occasionally on other boards, but brought forth no major successes or hits. Nevertheless, the singer still occurs internationally.
