Defense Grid: The Awakening

Defense Grid: The Awakening is a tower defense strategy game from the developer studio Hidden Path for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Xbox 360 It was published on 8 December 2008 and is distributed by Aspyr Media.

Since June 2010, available from the manufacturer eight additional cards under the title Defense Grid: Resurgence as downloadable content.

Gameplay

The player has to protect against hostile aliens that they try to steal in large numbers and several successive "waves" in 20 missions energy nuclei ( so-called " cores "). Needs at least one core on the map to complete the mission. The top of the screen tells you how many waves to follow and which of the 15 enemy types containing them.

Means "credits" ( the cash in the game), the player can build defense towers and thus the aliens - can - keep not shoot back. For downed aliens the player credits that you can invest in new defense systems or the expansion of existing defenses receives. On the balance of unspent credits the player interest, which are the higher, the more cores are in place gets. In total there are ten different towers each with two further stages, but are not yet at the beginning of the game available, but are unlocked at higher emissions. Critify calculated for the PC version an average of 76 % ( based on 5 reviews ), for the Xbox 360 version, however, 83% ( based on 6 reviews ). Metacritic calculated contrast of 81% for the PC version ( based on 11 reviews ).
