Defqon.1 Festival

Defqon.1 Festival is an annual event of the Dutch hardstyle scene. It is organized by the organizer and record label Q-Dance since 2003.

History

The festival has been organized since 2003 on the beach of Almere in the Dutch province of Flevoland. It is especially known for the elaborate stage set and for its lighting effects. The festival lasts for 12 hours and is in between 11.00 and 23.00 clock instead. At this festival regularly attracts well known DJs such as Headhunterz, Wildstylez and The Prophet. Different styles of music are featured at the festival by different colors.

On 19 September 2009, the Defqon.1 was held for the first time in Sydney, Australia. As a venue, the International Regatta Centre was chosen, which was built in 2000 for the Summer Olympic Games.

Q-Dance announced in early 2011 that Defqon.1 will no longer take place in Almere due to lack of permits. The festival found its new place in Biddinghuizen, near the Walibi Holland, where there 25 June 2011 took place the first time. The terrain was also already other major festivals, including the Lowlands Festival as the venue. From the time the Defqon.1 from 12 hours to three days has been extended ( except in 2013 from Friday to Monday).

Special

Tickets for this festival are regularly sold out quickly. 2007, there were 35,000 tickets sold out in a few hours, while in 2009 and 2010 only lasted 39 minutes, until all 50,000 tickets were sold out. In 2011, all 62,500 tickets were sold out within half an hour.
