Deiphontes

Deiphontes (Greek Δηιφόντης ) In Greek mythology, the son of Heraclides Antimachus and great-grandson of Heracles.

Deiphontes married the Hyrnetho, daughter of Temenos, and helped him to the throne of Temeniden in Argos erect. Temenos preferring instead one of his sons Deiphontes to appoint as his successor, so Temenos was murdered by his sons. The sons were but of the Argives ( people of Argos ) were driven out.

According to another story came Temenos eldest son Keisos to reign in Argos, while Deiphontes with Hyrnetho lived at Epidaurus, where he had to endure from his in-laws hostilities. As two of his brothers- had her sister kidnapped by force and Deiphontes pursued, Hyrnetho was killed by her brother Phalces in the scuffle. The fate of the woman was the subject of the tragedy of Euripides Temenos.
