Dejan Stefanović

Dejan Stefanović (Serbian Cyrillic Дејан Стефановић, born October 28, 1974 in Niš, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian football player. The center-back is since 2007 the Premier League club Fulham FC under contract.

Club career

Stefanović started his professional career in the 1992/93 season the Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade. In 1995 he was with the club national champion, in 1993 and 1995, he won with his team the National Cup.

End of December 1995, he became, like his teammate Darko Kovačević Belgrade committed for two million pounds from the English first division club Sheffield Wednesday. Stefanović did not succeed in Sheffield in his four years to keep permanently in the root formation. In 1999 he left the English club again and moved to Perugia Calcio free transfer he have but completed only a short time without a game later left and returned to his homeland to OFK Belgrade. There he remained only a few months before joining the Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem joined.

In Arnhem, he was a regular player and later captain quickly. After four years in the Netherlands, he moved to the beginning of the 2003/04 season again in the Premier League in England. The Portsmouth paid 1.85 million pounds transfer fee to secure the services of central defender. Unlike in his time at Sheffield, he was able to secure a regular place at Portsmouth and was chosen by the fans in the season 2005/ 06 Player of the Year
