Delden
Delden is a city in Twente in the Dutch province of Overijssel. Until 1 January 2001 Delden was an independent municipality under the name Stad Delden. Since then, the city of the municipality of Hof van Twente belongs (the five municipalities and city Ambt Delden, Diepenheim, Goor and Markelo together ). It is located west of Hengelo, has an area of 5.96 square kilometers and in early 2007 had 7077 inhabitants.
Attractions include the Farm Museum Wendezoele, the water mill " Noordmolen ", the sawmill of Twickel, the Salt Museum and the old and the new church of St. Blaise.
Near the village, the castle is Twickel. It can only be viewed from the outside, because it is inhabited; the associated parks and forests are released to the public.
History
Delden has city status since 1333. Delden was occupied in May during the Western campaign of the armed forces and liberated on April 4, 1945 by Canadian troops.
