Delfino Codazzi

Delfino Codazzi ( born March 7, 1824 in Lodi, † July 21, 1873 in Pavia ) was an Italian mathematician. He was first a teacher at secondary schools ( Liceo ) in Lodi and Pavia, from 1865 professor at the University of Pavia and dealt particularly with differential geometry.

In 1859, he found the Mainardi - Codazzi equations of the theory of surfaces in three-dimensional space, but the work was not published until ten years after his death.
