DEME

DEME (full name: Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering ) is a Belgian, a globally active corporate group, which is active in the field of dredging, in the land reclamation, offshore, water and coastal engineering as well as in other areas of marine technology.

The company, which employed a total of about 4000 workers and employees in 2010 and generated sales of about 1.8 billion euros, has its headquarters in Flemish City Zwijndrecht in the province of Antwerp.

History

DEME was established in 1991 as part of a global concentration in the dredging industry ( founded in 1875 ) and Dredging International by the merger of two Belgian competitors excavator works Decloedt & Zoon. The latter was by fusion of hydraulic engineering divisions of Ackermans & van Haaren (founded in 1852) and Société Générale de Dragage ( established in 1930 ) emerged again in 1974.

Fleet and Equipment

The company operates as a shipping company operates a fleet of about 80 dredgers and dredging as well as about 200 other working and auxiliary ships.
