Demethylation

With demethylation ( demethylation ), a process known in organic chemistry, in which a methyl group ( CH3) from a molecule dissolved out. In biochemical systems, this is done usually by enzymatic oxidation of the methyl group, for example, by enzymes in the cytochrome P450 family.
