Demetrios Galanis

Dimitrios Galanis (also: Demetrios Galanis, Greek Δημήτριος Γαλάνης; * 1879 or 1882 in Athens, † March 20, 1966 in Paris ) was a major Greek painter of the early 20th century.

Galanis was at the age of 20 years to Paris. In 1920, he completed his most famous work Seated Nude. Fame Galanis first in France. His works have been exhibited alongside works by important contemporary artists of modern painting, such as Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, Juan Gris, Raoul Dufy, Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso in Paris, Brussels, London and New York. With Picasso he formed a lifelong friendship. In later years, Galanis professor at the École des Beaux -Arts in Paris and member of the Académie française. Galanis lived for fifty years in the rue Cortot of Paris' Montmartre district.
