Demian is a French alternative rock band that was founded by Nicolas Chapel in 2007 and is located in a break since 2011 ..

History

The band name was inspired by Hermann Hesse's novel " Demian ". Chapels musical influences are diverse, ranging from Radiohead about Tori Amos to Ambient. All instruments and vocals on the first two studio albums are from Chapel, he performs live with a full band. All publications are independently produced and recorded in his home studio Chapels, the location of an album moving to the next.

Building an Empire

The first studio album Building an Empire was published on 19 May 2008 on InsideOut and well received by critics. The success of building an Empire encouraged Chapel to to put together with drummer Gaël Hallier and bassist Antoine Pohu a live band in the sequence as the opening act for various well-known rock and metal bands (including Oceansize, Anathema, Marillion, Steven Wilson & Aviv Geffen, Jonathan Davis) occurred. On their European tour Demian played more than 40 concerts in more than 12 countries.

Mute

The follow-up album Mute appeared on 28 June 2010 ( Europe) and 10 August 2010 ( USA) via InsideOut (EMI). Chapel was again solely responsible for all instruments and vocals on the album. He was supported by two guest musicians: Gaël Hallier (drums) in Swing of the Airwaves and Hesitation Waltz, Lepolair ( Electronics) in Porcelain. Despite the considerable changes compared to its predecessor Mute received outstanding reviews worldwide and expanded the audience of the band.

After the release of mute Fred Mariolle Demian officially joined as a guitarist.
