Democracy is Freedom – The Daisy

Democrats è Libertà - La Margherita ( German Democracy is Freedom - The Daisy ) was an Italian party of the political center, which existed from 2002 to 2007.

Their predecessors are the Partito Popolare Italiano, the national leadership and the Renewal Italiano. She belonged to the left coalition The Olive. She founded the European Democratic Party as an international party composite of the 2004 European election. In the European Parliament it belongs to the liberal faction. The founder and chairman was Francesco Rutelli, the former mayor of Rome. Since 17 May 2006 until its dissolution in 2007, the party was involved in the government of Prime Minister Romano Prodi. On 14 October 2007 she went on with the Democrats of the Sinistra and seven other parties of the center-left coalition of Romano Prodi in the Partito Democratico newly established.
