Democratic Freedom Party

Democratic Freedom Party ( Democratic Freedom Party ) ( DFP) is a social democratic political party in Ghana.

It was founded by leading members of the former party of Jerry Rawlings, the National Democratic Congress in 2006. The DFP was commissioned by the National Electoral Commission officially founded confirmation in October 2006.

The DFP will play an important role in the presidential and legislative elections in 2008 from the perspective of the party founder. Chairman Obed Asamoah is, former Foreign Minister and Minister of Justice of Ghana under Rawlings. Other well-known members are Abraham Kofi Asante, a former Member of Parliament, as well as Mike Eghan, former Deputy Chairman of the Convention People's Party. Primarily it involves former followers of Rawlings from his party National Democratic Congress (NDC ), but which turned out now as a critic or opponent of the person Rawlings.

With the founding of the Party of the DFP was accused the officials to weaken the NDC party, thus giving indirect political opponents for the 2008 elections buoyancy.
