Democratic Patriots' Movement

Movement of Democratic Patriots (Arabic حركة الوطنيون الديمقراطيون, Al - Watad, French Mouvement des patriotes démocrates, abbreviation MOUPAD ) is a Marxist and Arab nationalist party in Tunisia. It was founded in the wake of " Jasmine Revolution " and was registered in January 2011. Its general secretary was Chokri Belaïd who was shot dead on February 6, 2013.

History

Founded in 1981, the movement was only in 2011, legalized by the Tunisian revolution of 2010. In the 2011 elections, the Democratic Movement Patriots won a seat in the Constituent Assembly - Mongi Rahoui from the constituency Jendouba.
