Denemo

Denemo is a graphical music notation program. Denemo is Free Software under the GPL and is based on the free library GTK . To output the set notes in Lilypond print quality is used. With an internal sampler, the marks will be played. Optionally, there is also a more flexible interface via JACK.

Philosophy

Objective of the program is to create notation for the LilyPond music engraver effectively and at high speed. The user does not need to learn the complex Lilypond syntax to do so. Composing, transcribing, arranging and playback functions are controlled by the PC keyboard, midi keyboard or a microphone. Denemo should not only be a notation program, but a complete music composition and rendering environment (notes → sound ).

Data formats

Denemo uses a proprietary XML format to store the note data (file extension: . Denemo ). Alternatively, the following formats are supported ( import and export):

  • . mid ( MIDI)
  • . ly ( LilyPond )

There is also the possibility to export files as PDF or PNG image file.
