Dénes Zsigmondy

Dénes ZSIGMONDY ( born April 9, 1922 in Budapest, † February 15, 2014 ) was a Hungarian violinist and music teacher.

ZSIGMONDY studied after attending high school art history and education at the University of Budapest and violin at the Music Academy. In 1944 he left Hungary and moved to Salzburg, where he became known for his participation in the Summer Academy. He worked as a violin soloist and teacher in Europe and 1959 in the United States and Japan. He became known as a sought-after interpreter of the works of Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven, and especially the works of Béla Bartók and played premieres of several works by Günter Bialas and Harald Genzmer.
