Dennis de Jong

Cornelis ( Dennis ) de Jong ( May 22nd, 1955 in Delft) is a Dutch politician of the Socialist Party.

Life

After leaving school, De Jong studied law and political economy at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, where he graduated in economics in 1976 in Law and 1977. He then went to New York City where he studied at the New School of Social Research and his Masters in 1979 reached in the study International Relations. De Jong received after studying a post as a diplomat at the Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands. From 1983 to 1987 De Jong was employed at the Social and Labour Ministry of the Netherlands and from 1987 to 1993 he worked for the Ministry of Justice, where he was head of the department policy on foreigners. In 2000 he completed his doctorate in international law. Since 2009, De Jong is member of the European Parliament. He is on the board of the European Parliament Platform for Secularism in Politics ( EPPSP ).

De Jong is Deputy Chairman of the special committee on organized crime, corruption and money laundering

He is a member of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection and the Delegation for relations with the countries of Southeast Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN). As a deputy, he is in the Budgetary Control and the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.

De Jong lives with his partner Kees Vrijdag in Rotterdam. He is a member of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands.
