Dennis Robertson (politician)

Dennis Robertson ( born August 14, 1956 in Aberdeen) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Life

Since the age of eleven Robertson is blind. He attended the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh and settled at Langside College to train in social work. Between 1979 and 1988, he worked as a social worker in Greenock and then worked for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association in Forfar. From 2005 he worked for -profit disability organization North East Sensory Services. His sixth guide dog called Mr. Q.

Political career

For the first time Robertson joined the Scottish Parliament elections 2007 elections at the national level. In his constituency, West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, he received the second highest number of votes behind the Liberal Democrat Mike Rumbles and thus failed to reach the Scottish Parliament. He could, however, increase the vote share of the SNP by 12.1 %. As part of the constituency reform of 2011, the constituency West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine was dissolved and largely replaced by the newly created constituency of Aberdeenshire West to its mandate Robertson competed at the Scottish Parliament elections in 2011.
