Dêqên Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture
The Autonomous District Deqin (Ch Diqing ) of the Tibetans is in the northwest of Yunnan Province and the Tibetan cultural region of Kham Act. Dêqên has an area of 23,870 km ² and around 330,000 inhabitants ( end of 2003).
Administrative Divisions
The Autonomous District is composed of two circles at the county level and an autonomous district. These are:
- Shangri- La (香格里拉 县), 11,613 km ², 130,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Jiantang (建 塘镇), center, seat of the district government, which emerged from the former county of Zhongdian (Tib. Gyalthang );
- Deqin county (德钦 县), 7596 km ², 60,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Shengqping (升平 镇);
- Autonomous County Weixi Lisu (维西 傈 僳 族 自治县), 4661 km ², 140,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Mingzhu (保 和 镇).

At the census in 2000 had 353 518 inhabitants Deqin ( population density. 14.81 inhab / km ²).
