The captain is an adventure series for ZDF, whose first episode saw nearly nine million viewers.
Frank Harmsen is captain of several cargo ships. With changing ships he shipped on the oceans explosive charge and is with his friend Chief Engineer Fritz, machinist Wysocki and the respective crew adventure between environmental crime and drugs smuggling, civil war and mutiny.
After Atzorn 1999 due to " boring " scripts with " The Captain " ceased, he moved since the end of his scene - Commissioner - time again as Frank Harmsen on the world's oceans. Not on board will have his old companions Kaiser ( Jophi Ries ) and Wysocki ( Jürgen Tarrach ). Filming in South Africa, Argentina, the Arctic and Hamburg went from February to end of April 2008.
