Derrick Williams (basketball)

Derrick LeRon Williams (born 25 May 1991 La Mirada, California) is an American professional basketball player who is currently with the Sacramento Kings under contract.

College

Derrick Williams decided after high school, at the suggestion of Tim Floyd, first for college at USC. Due to a scandal but USC coach Floyd left the team before the college season. Then Williams also asked for the release to be able to switch to a different college. This release was issued and shortly after Williams was recruited by the Arizona Wildcats. In his first season knew Williams to persuade and was named All-American and Pac -10 Freshmen of the Year.

In his second season with the Wildcats, Williams rose again and led his team to the Pac-10 Championship. He was awarded the Pac -10 Player of the Year for this service. In the NCAA tournament, he led his team to the Elite Eight. However, the Wildcats lost 65-63 to eventual NCAA champion Connecticut. Even after the college season, Williams was honored with many awards. Many experts granted him a good chance in the future to play in the NBA, so he decided to register for the NBA Draft.

NBA

In the 2011 NBA Draft Derrick Williams was selected at the 2nd digit of the Minnesota Timberwolves. On February 28, Derrick Williams scored against the Los Angeles Clippers with 27 points his Karrierebestwert. His rookie season he finished with an average of 8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists. His second year, graduated from Williams with 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds. He benefited primarily from the frequent violations of the nominal power forwards Kevin Love, who gave him much playing time. On November 26, 2013, Williams was transferred in exchange for Luc Mbah a Moute to the Sacramento Kings.
