History

The company was founded in 1984 by the Swiss Thomas Meyer. The first own store was opened in Ibiza Town 1986.

Today, the company has approximately 200 owned stores and other retail outlets in 65 countries worldwide. The growth rates of recent years have been great. In Germany Desigual operates since 2009 in Berlin and Cologne, since 2010 in Hamburg, Oberhausen, Munich, Hanover, Ludwigshafen am Rhein and Leipzig and since 2011 in Dusseldorf, Nuremberg, Oldenburg, and a flagship store in Dortmund. In Dresden and Weiterstadt, there is a Desigual store, as in Stuttgart. Since 2010, Desigual has a branch in Japan. Since 2013 there is also a Desigual store in Essen, Frankfurt am Main and in the FOC in Ochtrup.

The current face of the brand are Erin Heatherton and Tony Ward.
