Desmond Titterington

Desmond Titterington ( born May 1, 1928 in Cultra, † April 21, 2002 in Dundee ) was a Northern Irish auto racing driver.

Desmond Titterington drove in his career while just a race to the world championship of Formula 1, but had the talented Irishman 1956 not surprisingly announced his retirement the way to a top international drivers have been possible.

After a few races in a Allard Titterington 1953 Ecurie Ecosse member. For the Scottish racing team in 1953, he denied the Tourist Trophy in Dundrod an Aston Martin, which he finished in sixth place.

In January 1954, he showed his versatility when he was on a Jaguar sixth in the Monte Carlo Rally. After a few races on his private Triumph TR2, he returned to the middle of 1954 Ecurie Ecosse back to replace the injured Jimmy Stewart there. Titterington was ninth at the 9- hour race at Goodwood in 1955, with John Fitch fourth at the Targa Florio. Jaguar was convinced of the driving skills Titteringtons so they signed him as a works driver for the major sports car racing in 1956.

In Formula 1, it reached 1956 strong third places at Oulton Park and at the BRDC International Trophy at Silverstone. At the Grand Prix of Great Britain, he drove his Connaught before up to fifth place before an engine failure stopped him.

In 1956 he returned for family reasons racing back.
