Desoldering#Desoldering braid

Braid is a tool for solving of solder joints in electronics.

There is a 0.5 to 5 mm wide band of braided copper wires, which has been impregnated to enhance the capillary action in the flux. For desoldering it is pressed onto the joint, and then heated with a soldering iron along with the solder of the solder joint. The molten tin is received by the capillary action of the braided strand, and thus removed from the solder. Without binding solder the component can then be easily lifted away from the printed conductor.

When desoldering solder wick have to be considered that the desoldering process does not take too long. When this took too long, the copper track can be detached from the support material of the printed circuit board or component damage due to overheating. Pieces with imbibed Lot should always be cut off from the Restlitze.

Another tool for desoldering is the desoldering pump. Here the liquid tin is sucked by a vacuum.
