Destined Solitaire is the fifth studio album by the Swedish retro prog band Beardfish. It was released on July 27, 2009.
Style and reception
On " Destined Solitaire " the band plays retro prog with bonds to the Canterbury sound of the 70s. Unusually for the genre, the short Growling phase is in the title track. As a stylistic model of Frank Zappa and Gentle Giant are called next Kaipa and The Flower Kings.
Is often highlighted by critics the stylistic diversity of the album:
"Rather than to try it with Swedish noise rock, is here once across poached through the enclosure of the progressive music making. This time, came out of it is " Destined Solitaire ", an album full of eruptive compositions and cruel experimentation. "
The album was recorded largely positive; it reached to the Baby Blue Pages average of 11.5 out of 15 points, the webzine " Terrorverlag " awarded full marks.
