Det Norske Teatret

Det Norske Teatret ( German " The Norwegian Theatre ") is a theater in the center of Oslo, which mainly lists pieces in Nynorsk and Norwegian dialects. The theater was founded on November 22, 1912, first guide was Hulda Garborg.

Was the first performance in the presence of the Norwegian king Haakon VII On October 6, 1913. Played the comedy Jeppe på Berget (Eng. " Jeppe on the Mountain " ) by Ludvig Holberg, which was translated by Arne Garborg. The following performances were characterized by disturbances in front of the theater, where advocates of Riksmål tried to stop the ideas. Similar happened in 1948 when the theater Peer Gynt aufführte in a new Norwegian version with music by Harald Sæverud.

After several moves are the theater since 1985 in Oslo Kristian IVs gate. It is in Norway known for its musical productions; the greatest successes were Les Misérables, Cats and Piaf.

As a single major theater in Norway Det Norske Teatret is not government, but is operated by clubs. As the state but about 100 million Norwegian kroner granted annually as a grant, the leadership of the state is determined.

The building in Kristian IVs gate was honored in 1986 with the Norwegian Architecture Prize Betongtavlen.

The current theater boss is Vidar Sandem.
