Děti Země

Děti Země ( German: Children of the Earth ) is a Czech environmental movement. It was founded in September 1989, shortly before the Velvet Revolution, when the initiative of several eco-activists in Prague. Děti Země currently has eleven offices in the Czech Republic, the headquarters is located in Pilsen.

Since its foundation, DETI Země uses including for the protection of the ozone layer, sustainable transport and air pollution control. One of the most important projects of Děti Země was in the last years of the struggle for a more environmentally-friendly lines of the D8 motorway (Prague- Dresden) in the conservation area Central Mountains. In this context, the organization was known in Germany.

Members of the Honorary Council of the Organization Jiří Dědeček, Erazim Kohák, Vladimír Merta, Zdenek Thoma, Jaroslav Pavlíček and Jan Vodňanský. Ivan Dejmal, former dissident of the civil rights movement Charter 77 and the first Czech Environment Minister was a long -time supporter.

Děti Země annually awards the " Green Pearl ", an ironic award for the worst expression on topics of ecology.
