Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen

The German Chamber Philharmonic Bremen (own spelling: The German Chamber Philharmonic Bremen) is a German Chamber Orchestra of Bremen. It is led by Paavo Järvi since 2004.

History

The Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1980, initially an association of music students. In 1983, an appearance before the UN. 1983 and 1984 and 1985 at the Chamber Music Festival curls house. In 1987, the institutionalization as a professional chamber orchestra in Frankfurt am Main.

Presence

Since 1992, the Chamber Orchestra is based in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and designed two annual subscription series, special concerts, two chamber music series and the open-air summer festival in Lesmona. The orchestra is since 1998 part of the Bremen Music Festival and came here on in musical theatrical productions with Klaus Maria Brandauer. First Permanent Guest Conductor and Artistic Director at the time were Mario Venzago, Heinrich Schiff, Jiri Belohlavek and Thomas Hengelbrock. From 1999 to 2003 Daniel Harding held the position of Music Director.

An ensemble from the ranks of the orchestra since 1990, the Wind Soloists of the German Chamber Philharmonic Bremen. Besides concerts, hosting the musicians since 1992 -concert lectures and workshops, and maintain the cooperation with schools and adult education institutions.

In April 2007, the Chamber Philharmonic Bremen has moved into a new rehearsal rooms in the Gesamtschule Bremen -Ost. This resulted in projects and cooperation with the school, were honored for the orchestra and school with the Future Award 2007 as the best social innovation. The new rehearsal hall also has uses for public events and also as a recording studio in SACD quality.

The German Chamber Philharmonic Bremen is organized as a company in which the musicians are the sole shareholders. They are not responsible not only for artistic but also for the economic side. The orchestra is subsidized to 40%, the remaining 60 % are self- generated.

Together with Christian Scholz of the University of Saarbrücken, the 5 -second model was developed after a study of the artistic and entrepreneurial activities. This management model is used to optimize the performance. Main sponsors of the orchestra are Kraft Foods, Sparkasse Bremen and KPMG. In addition, it receives support from the city of Bremen as well as friends and supporters.

Artistic Director since 2004 Paavo Järvi. The focus of the cooperation between Järvi and the orchestra are the symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven. The joint Beethoven Project, a list of all the Beethoven symphonies and their recording in the 5.1 DSD technology was continued in the summer of 2007 with concerts in Japan, Canada, USA and Germany. Together with Järvi and other guest conductors and soloists enters the Chamber Philharmonic Bremen on national and international festivals and concert halls. 2010, the Chamber Philharmonic Bremen was awarded the Bremen Town Musicians Prize for her social commitment to the Gesamtschule Bremen -Ost district Easter wood Tenever. The orchestra brings here children from deprived backgrounds into contact with classical music.
