Devil May Cry: The Animated Series

Devil May Cry is an anime and manga adaptation of the video game series Devil May Cry of the Japanese company Capcom.

The action continues the game Devil May Cry 3 and its chronological successor to Devil May Cry. Besides the main character Dante also known from these games characters Lady and Trish and the new figures and Patty Morrison occur.

Action

2000 years ago, the human race was threatened by the attack of demons that came from their world to the human world. But Sparda, who was a demon himself, turned against them, they fought back and closed the gate to the demon world. The threat is averted, but find themselves still demons in the human world. Dante Sparda's son owns a business called Devil May Cry, where he takes orders to kill demons. Here come by and by the girl Patty Lowell and the demon Trish to him. He also is supported by the Demon Hunter Lady. Soon he has to fight against a strong opponent, who wants to destroy the world of humans and the demons.

Conception

The anime has an episodic character, with a completed action in each episode, but also a multi- episode story arc that begins already in the first episode and will be completed at the end of the series.

Publication of the manga

The manga of Chayamachi Suguro appeared in February 2005 under the title Devil May Cry 3 in Japan. In English, the two-volume manga by Tokyopop published.

Publication and production of the anime

The anime series Devil May Cry with twelve episodes was realized by Studio Madhouse 2007. The film was directed by Shin Itagaki, the character design was designed by Hisashi Abe and Katsushi Aoki was artistic director. The series was broadcast on 14 June 2007 until 6 September 2007, the station WOWOW in Japan.

The anime was released in English at ADV Films and in French at Dybex. Animax radiated from the series in Spain and Portugal. The anime has been licensed in Germany by Universum Anime and appeared on 4 February 2008 on the launch of the game Devil May Cry 4 to 14 July 2008 on four DVDs.
