Devínska Kobyla

Sandberg on the western slope of the Devinska Kobyla

The Devinska Kobyla ( German: Thebener Kogel ) is a limestone mountain in Bratislava in Slovakia. It is part of the Little Carpathians, is 514 m high and forms with the opposite located in Austria Braunenberg the Theban gate. Nearby are the rivers Danube and Morava, and Devin Castle. From the top you have a wonderful view to Austria, the surroundings of Bratislava and Hungary. The Devinska Kobyla is the same namesake and the highest mountain a part of the Small Carpathians, Devínske Karpaty. The area around the mountain is a National Nature Reserve Thebener Kogel under protection.

Sandberg

On the western slope of the mountain, not far from Devinska Nova Ves, is the Sandberg. In the approximately 15 million years old rock layers from the Tertiary fossils remains have been found of more than 300 animal species. The covered sand at the top of the survey makes the Sandberg to a landscape feature.
