Devise (Somme)

Foreign exchange is a small French village with 51 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality is part of the Canton of Ham, and is part of the Communauté de communes de la Haute Somme.

Geography

The community is - unusually for the area, in a wooded area - on the left bank of the Omignon, a tributary of the Somme, and north of Autoroute A29, which will not hit the municipality in the south, on the road department D45.

History

The Lords of Crécy -Châtillon could build a castle that covered the crossing of the Omignon.

During the First World War, the town was completely destroyed in 1917. The castle (Château de forex ) was destroyed. Currency was awarded the Croix de guerre 1914-1918.

Attractions

The town was rebuilt after the First World War by the architect A Rischmann and L. Houblain. Among the new buildings include the built of brick and concrete church zweifarbigejn Saint- Rémi (1932-1934) Calvary with mosaics by Jean Gaudin and the parish hall ( Mairie / Ecole ) in the Art Deco style.
