Devoxx

The Devoxx (formerly called Java Polis ) is an annual European conference on Java, Android and HTML5, which was initiated in 2001 by Stephan Janssen. It is organized by the Belgian Java User Group. The conference takes place every year around November. With over 2800 participants in 2006 Java Polis became the largest manufacturer-independent Java conference in the world. In 2008, the conference was renamed Devoxx.

With more than 3300 participants, the Devoxx 2011 was six weeks previously sold out. In 2012, the conference was sold out again on 4 October, so another six weeks in advance. She had 3400 participants from 40 different countries.

2012, the first Devoxx France took place, organized by the Paris Java User Group and on 18 April 2012 - was conducted April 20, 2012 in Paris. With more than 1200 participants and 149 speakers of the Devoxx France was previously sold out one week.

The first edition of Devoxx 4 Kids was held in 2012 and was organized on 13 October 2012 in Ghent on 20 October 2012 in Brussels. She put on 65 participants aged 10-14 years. The participants played with Scratch and programmed Lego Mindstorms.

The Devoxx UK for 2013 were announced during the opening keynote of the Devoxx 2012 on November 14, 2012 in Antwerp. The first edition of Devoxx UK is a two-day conference, at the Business Design Centre in London from March 26, 2013-27. March 2013 just before the Devoxx France. Devoxx UK is to be organized by Ben Evans, Martijn Verburg, Dan Hardiker and Stephan Janssen in close collaboration with the London Java Community.

Location

The Devoxx is the second largest cinema complex place in Europe, the Metropolis in Antwerp. Therefore, the presenter video and slides of the presentations projected on the giant movie screens and use the existing THX audio infrastructure.
