Dexheim

Dexheim is a municipality in the district Mainz -Bingen, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Nierstein - Oppenheim, has its administrative headquarters in the town of Oppenheim.

History

Dexheim 774 was first mentioned. A donation of the Frankish king Charlemagne man to the Lorsch Abbey was certified to a Good Dexheim belonged. As Reichsdorf Dexheim was rich immediately. The villages Dexheim, Schwabsburg and Nierstein formed a community that was managed by Niersteiner Knights Court. In 1375 Dexheim was bonded together with Schwabsburg and Nierstein to Elector Ruprecht I of the Palatinate. Between 1953 and the end of 2009 entertained the U.S. armed forces near the Rhine-Hessian local community around a 75 -acre barracks site with residential, utility and administrative buildings. Although the area completely to Niersteiner district ( district: Schwabsburg ) found that the barracks was called the U.S. Army Anderson Barracks Dexheim.

Culture and sights

Since 2000 there is the " Big Stone " on the " free space " in Dexheim. It is a menhir, probably served as a prehistoric cult stone and as a medieval landmark. The stone was previously at today's county road 44 On today's outdoor space was between 1830 and 1974, the old town hall. A plaque commemorates the building.
