Dezider Kardoš

Dezider Kardoš ( born December 23, 1914 in Nadlice; † 8 March 1991 in Bratislava) was a Slovak composer.

Kardoš studied from 1933 to 1937 at the Conservatory of Bratislava and then to 1939 in Vítězslav Novák in Prague. From 1945 to 1952 he was head of the music department of broadcasting in Prešov and Bratislava, then conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic. From 1961 to 1984 he taught composition at the Music Academy Bratislava.

He composed seven symphonies, a symphonic prelude, an East Slovak Prelude, a heroic ballad, an orchestral concert, a concerto for string orchestra, a Concerto for Violin, Harp and Strings, chamber music, cantatas, choral works, songs and film scores.
