Dezső Korda

Dezso Korda ( born January 8, 1864 in Kisbér, Komárom- Esztergom, † April 1, 1919 in Zurich, also Désiré or Desider Korda ) is considered the inventor of the variable capacitor.

Life

After studying electrical engineering in Budapest he was settled in France and was 28 years for various companies (including the French AEG; Societe Electro- Chimie de Basel, chief engineer and later as a business manager of the Société de Fives - Lille ) operates.

On June 8, 1892 Desider Korda received from Paris a German patent (No. 72447 ) Electrical capacitor by changing the length of the plates variable Capacität. Is a variable capacitor with a dielectric liquid, which is used to compensate for the mutual induction, and an automatic actuator includes. On November 14, 1907 Désiré Korda received together with Alexander Heyland from Brussels the patent as converters to be used unipolar AC-DC machine (DRP 191 897, valid from March 2, 1906 ).

Later, he may also developed a rotating drive.

He planned a first electrical automobile.

He also dealt with metallurgy and put alloys such as Ferro silicon for electrical ago. He also received a patent for the treatment of sulfur-containing copper -zinc ores in the converter.

He was also involved in mathematical research and the regulation of the Danube.

For his scientific results him the Legion of Honor was awarded.

When he got there, position and wealth in the First World War, he was a lecturer in wireless telegraphy and high frequency machines at ETH Zurich.
