History

Based on experiences of Wilhelm Dirks in the Academic Flying Group Darmstadt he constructed the DG- 100, which in May 1974 was able to perform its maiden flight. 1977 was followed by the new development of the DG -200.

In 1978 it was decided to begin a collaboration with the Slovenian company Elan. The aircraft DG-100 ELAN, DG-300 ELAN and DG- 500 ELAN were built in the following years at ELAN and from 1999 in the successor company AMS Flight. This cooperation ended in late 2004.

The company introduced from 1980 parts of their model DG- 200C in carbon fiber composite construction forth. This technique was further developed and finally brought to a high standard.

With the types of DG-400 was extended in 1981, the product portfolio with a motor glider. The good response from customers based also on the Engine Indication and control apparatus DEI, which also allowed the less technically inclined people, the simplest way to control a motorized airplane. This controller has been continuously developed and is still in the latest version " DEI- NT " in series production.

The line of development was continued with the double seater DG- 500, DG- 18m aircraft 600 and DG- 800 to the two-seater DG -1000. All aircraft are also available motorized.

Due to supply problems with the former engine of self-launching DG- 800A and corresponding delivery problems occurred in the spring of 1996 to the bankruptcy of the company Glaser- Dirks Flugzeugbau GmbH.

DG Flugzeugbau

In May 1996, found themselves with Karl Friedrich Weber, his wife Eva -Marie Weber and Gerhard Wolff financially strong investors and the successor company DG Flugzeugbau GmbH was founded there. Karl Friedrich Weber invested in the development of the DG- 800, in the redevelopment of the two-seater DG- 1000 and in a modern production facility directly at the airfield of Bruchsal. This was taken in December 2000.

In the same year also the first flight of the DG- 1000S newly developed, followed in 2004, the version with sustainer. In April 2010, the first version of selbstartfähige two-seater was delivered.

In 2003, DG Flugzeugbau the financially troubled company shutters Schneider Flugzeugbau GmbH and closed its location in Egelsbach. Shortly thereafter, shutters Schneider went into bankruptcy, resulting in a months-long dispute between DG Flugzeugbau, the insolvency administrator and a consortium of other interested parties to the bankruptcy estate result. The most successful standard class aircraft LS8 is then built by DG Flugzeugbau continue in series and was further developed. The last LS LS10 model has since been developed for mass production. In addition, DG-Flugzeugbau received the pattern support the leaked pattern LS1, LS3 and LS9. The pattern LS4 and LS6 were taken together with the production tools of the company AMS in Slovenia. However, there the production of gliders in 2009 were built only a few LS4 and LS6 not up to the task. The patterns of the two types of care was also eventually taken over by DG. At this time, ended after 26 years, the cooperation between the two companies.

In winter 2009 Karl Friedrich Weber announced at the company's website that the pattern support for several types of gliders in the future a paid support contract must be agreed with DG Flugzeugbau. This applies to all gliders were built by the predecessor companies Glaser- Dirks and shutters Schneider and are supervised by DG Flugzeugbau. Was justified the introduction of a service agreement with the high cost of care patterns. The announcement was met with strong criticism from pilots and aircraft owners, which was at least partially supported by the European Gliding Union.
