DGM (Band)

DGM is an Italian progressive metal band.

Band History

DGM was founded in 1994 as a purely instrumental band. After she took second place at a local music competition, the band found with Luciano Regoli a singer whose roots lay in the progressive rock of the 1970s. With it took DGM 1996, the EP "Random Excess Zone" on. Before the release of the debut album " Change Direction " 1997 the Italian independent label Elevate Records left a founding member Gianfranco Tass Ella the band and was replaced by drummer Fabio Costantino. In 1999 the second album " Wings of Time " has been released, in Japan alone sold about 4,000 times.

After various line- up changes came in 2001 finally " Dreamland " out on the Titta Tani was first heard as a singer. Although not quite as successful as its predecessor, this album gave the band a record deal with the Italian label Scarlet Records, appeared on the 2003 " Hidden Place " and came across great reviews. In the same year singer Tani was next to his tenure at DGM drummer with Necrophagia.

One year after publication of the 2003s album " Misplaced ", guitarist and founding member Diego Reali the band and was replaced by Simone Mularoni. Also in 2004 completed keyboard player Emanuele Casali the line-up of DGM. With this lineup the band "Different Shapes " took on. After the live performances on this album Titta Tani left the band, he was succeeded as singer Mark Basile. 2009 was the eighth studio album " Frame" published.

Music style

The main influence donors of the band include Symphony X and Dream Theater. The band attaches importance to progressive structures, but these catchy than some other progressive metal bands are designed. Extended guitar solos belong to this style, most of the songs are played relatively quickly.
