Dia:Beacon

Dia: Beacon, (also called Riggio Galleries, National Biscuit Company Carton Making and Printing Plant, The Biscuit, Nabisco Carton Making and Printing Plant or Dia Center for the Arts known), is an art museum on the Hudson River in Beacon in the U.S. state of New York. Among the works of contemporary art permanently shown there besides rotating exhibitions of the Dia Art Foundation include sculptures by Richard Serra, installations by Joseph Beuys and Dan Flavin and paintings by Andy Warhol.

The museum is housed in a 27,000 square meter former factory building, which was built in 1929 by the National Biscuit Company, and was the last owner of International Paper given as a gift to the Dia Art Foundation in 1999. As representatives of the industrial architecture of the early 20th century it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places ( the National Register of Historic Places ). After completion of the renovation and reconstruction work inside the building, the museum was able to slide: Beacon in May 2003, about two years later than originally planned, to be opened. Recognizing the financial support from the investors couple Louise and Leonard Riggio it is nicknamed Riggio Galleries.
