Diarra Traoré

Diarra Traoré (* 1935July 8, 1985 ) was Prime Minister of Guinea in 1984.

Political career

Traoré belonged to the ethnic group of the Malinke and was a colonel in the army of Guinea. He and Colonel Lansana Conté plunged on 3 April 1984, Interim President Louis Lansana Beavogui, who had recently become the successor of the late years of President Ahmed Sékou Touré. Conté was as chairman of the Military Council of State and Traoré on April 5, 1984 Prime Minister. His cabinet was composed of 32 ministers and secretaries of state, including 8 civilians. On December 18, 1984 Conté took over himself the powers of the government and abolished the office of prime minister. Traoré belonged to the cabinet as Minister of Education to continue.

After a failed coup attempt against Conté in June 1985, he was with about fifty of his followers, also mostly Malinke, imprisoned and executed shortly afterwards.
